7.00 pm - 2nd November 2014. DORSET, UK

Anglo American Oil Company Ltd. would like to say a huge congratulations to Phil Keen, who has not only led the leaderboard since his first race this season, but has now been crowned the winner of the 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge!

Phil Keen, a 31 year old racer from Henley on Thames who has been racing Karts since he was eight, has finally seen his efforts pay off in a different way as he prepares to takes to the tracks at Daytona International Speedway in January 2015 for Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Phil was competing in the Radical SR3 Challenge this year, with team-mate Peter Belshaw and run by Mark's Electricals, and managed to clinch the 2014 Radical SR3 Challenge Championship ahead of last year's 2014 Sunoco 200 Challenge Champion, Lewis Plato. After that, Keen was left to wait, having done all he could to score points towards the 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge, for Tristan Viidas to compete in his final four races over in Catalunya.

As Phil was over in Catalunya competing in the GT Open (not eligible for 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge), where the Radical European Masters were also taking part in their final races, he was on hand to keep an eye on his main competitor, Tristan Viidas, who needed an almost 'impossibly' successful weekend to steal the prize. Unfortunately, although Tristan did some fantastic driving, and won his first two races, car trouble and a fight from last years Sunoco Challenge Winner, Bradley Smith, meant he was unable to achieve the 450 points he needed to overtake, which lost him places in the standings, and means Phil Keen has been crowned the winner of the 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge.

Here are the final 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge top 5 standings:

We spoke to Phil, who was run by Marks Electrical in the Radical SR3 Challenge, in Catalunya this weekend about how he felt winning the 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge: "I am really pleased to have won the Sunoco Whelen Challenge. I can't wait to get out there, meet the team and learn the car and the track. A big thank to my team mate/sponsor Peter Belshaw, my Radical team Mark's Electrical and of course, Whelen Engineering, Sunoco and Daytona for giving me this opportunity".

Managing Director of Anglo American Oil Company, Anders Hildebrand also said this about the win; "I'm very excited to have Phil Keen as the 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge winner. Phil is a very fast and experienced SportsCar racer, and although he has never raced in the US or on an oval, I know he will have no problems getting up to speed very quickly. I'm confident that Phil will enjoy Daytona and who knows, the combination of Action Express and Whelen might just be the combination that will result in Phil getting his hand on the Rolex watch at the end of the race!"

After a hard battle all season to stay at the top, Phil can now sit back and relax for a few months whilst he prepares for the Rolex 24 At Daytona where he will be driving the Action Express run no.31 Whelen Corvette DP alongside the 2015 season line up of Eric Curran and Dane Cameron. Action Express recently announced that they will be running the Whelen car in addition to their no.5 car and the 2014 Tudor United Sportscar Champions. The 2014 season saw the team demonstrate incredible preparation and execution from the crew, as well as from its principal drivers, Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi, who started the season by winning the Rolex 24 At Daytona by just 1.461 seconds. They then went on to achieve another two race victories and an impressive seven podium results in the first 10 events. So who knows, this could mean a potential victory for Phil in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the chance to step onto the world famous podium!

2015 Sunoco 200 Challenge - Oskar Krüger was crowned the 2015 Sunoco 200 Challenge Champion after his efforts during the Radical Clubman's Cup. He will join fellow Radical racer at the Rolex 24 At Daytona where he will be driving the Sunoco liveried Chevrolet Camaro in the Continental Tire SportsCar Performance 200 on the Friday before the Rolex 24 At Daytona.     In early January Phil Keen will fly out to Daytona with 2015 Sunoco 200 Champion, Oskar Krüger, for official testing at the Roar Before the 24 on January 9-11. Whilst there he will get his first chance to drive on the 31 degree banking of the 3.56 mile Daytona International Speedway track. Then it won't be long until they are both back in America, where Phil will compete in the Rolex 24 at Daytona when it kicks off the 2015 TUDOR Championship race season at 2pm EST on Saturday 24th January 2015.

We have our winners. Next stop...Daytona International Speedway in January!
